- About the Trip
- Experience the spiritual and cultural heart of India with our
- Banaras Winter Tour Package
- , a 3 Nights / 4 Days group journey through the timeless streets, ghats, temples and flavours of Varanasi. Designed for travellers who want to experience Banaras beyond regular sightseeing, this trip combines Kashi Vishwanath Darshan, Ganga Aarti, sunrise and night boat rides, Banarasi food, heritage walks and local experiences into one immersive journey.
- Also known as Varanasi and Kashi, Banaras is a city where ancient traditions and everyday life exist side by side. The narrow lanes of the old city lead to centuries-old temples, bustling markets and famous food stalls, while the ghats along the Ganga remain at the centre of the city's spiritual identity.
- Winter makes exploring Banaras particularly enjoyable. The cooler mornings are ideal for walking through the old city, visiting temples and experiencing the ghats, while sunrise and evening boat rides offer some of the most atmospheric views of Varanasi. This
- Banaras winter trip
- is planned to give you time to experience the city's spiritual, cultural and culinary sides without rushing from one attraction to another.
- Why Visit Banaras in Winter?
- Winter is one of the most comfortable seasons to explore Varanasi. Compared with the hotter months, the cooler weather makes long walks through the old city, temple visits and ghat exploration easier.
- Early mornings are especially beautiful around the Ganga. The quieter atmosphere, soft morning light and cooler air create an ideal setting for a sunrise boat ride and Subah-e-Banaras at Assi Ghat.
- Winter is also a lively period on the Banaras cultural calendar, with festivals and celebrations taking place around the ghats during the season. Depending on the travel dates, travellers may also find the city preparing for or celebrating occasions such as Diwali, Dev Deepawali and Kartik Purnima.
- This makes winter a great season for travellers looking for a combination of
- Kashi Darshan, Ganga experiences, temple visits, local food and cultural exploration
- .
- What Makes This Banaras Winter Tour Special?
- This is not designed as a conventional sightseeing package where you simply move from one monument to another. The itinerary combines the iconic experiences of Varanasi with local activities that help you understand the character of Banaras.
- The trip includes:
- 3 nights accommodation
- Breakfast and dinner as specified in the package
- Morning sharing boat ride from Assi towards Namo Ghat
- Night boat ride
- Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Darshan and Aarti
- Banarasi food walk
- Exploration of the old city and its heritage lanes
- Multiple temple visits
- Ganga Aarti experience
- Internal transportation through auto rickshaws
- Professional Banaras reel
- Multiple trip photographs
- Trip leader support
- Goodies from the Desh Videsh team
- The combination of these experiences makes this
- Banaras Winter Tour Package
- suitable for travellers who want to see the famous landmarks while also spending time around the river, temples, food streets and local neighbourhoods.
- Experiences You Will Have on the Banaras Winter Trip
- Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat
- Your Banaras experience begins with one of the city's most iconic traditions: the evening
- Ganga Aarti
- .
- As the sun sets, Dashashwamedh Ghat becomes a centre of devotional activity. Lamps, chants, bells and rituals create a powerful atmosphere along the Ganga.
- Experiencing the aarti in person allows you to see an important part of Banaras's spiritual life rather than simply visiting the ghat as a sightseeing spot.
- Kashi Vishwanath Darshan
- A
- Kashi Darshan tour
- would be incomplete without visiting Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
- Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kashi Vishwanath is one of the most important spiritual landmarks in Varanasi. The itinerary includes darshan followed by aarti, subject to temple timings, crowd conditions and local arrangements.
- The visit gives you an opportunity to experience one of the central spiritual traditions of Kashi while exploring the historic surroundings of the temple area.
- Morning Ganga Boat Ride
- One of the best ways to experience Varanasi is from the Ganga.
- The trip includes a
- morning sharing boat ride from Assi towards Namo Ghat
- , giving you a different perspective of the city's famous riverfront.
- As the city begins its day, you can see ghats, temples, boats, pilgrims and everyday activities along the river. The early morning light also makes this one of the most memorable photography experiences of the trip.
- Night Boat Ride on the Ganga
- The Ganga looks completely different after sunset.
- The itinerary also includes a
- night boat ride
- , allowing you to experience the illuminated ghats from the river. After seeing Varanasi during the calm morning hours, the evening boat experience gives you another perspective of the city's riverfront.
- Having both morning and night boat rides is one of the highlights of this Banaras group trip because the two experiences reveal very different sides of Kashi.
- Subah-e-Banaras at Assi Ghat
- An early morning visit to Assi Ghat introduces you to the quieter side of Varanasi.
- Subah-e-Banaras is associated with the city's early morning cultural and spiritual atmosphere. The combination of the Ganga, morning rituals, devotional activities and soft light creates a peaceful start to the day.
- It is also a great time to slow down and observe the everyday rhythm of Banaras before the city becomes busy.
- Exploring the Old Lanes of Banaras
- The character of Banaras is not limited to its famous temples and ghats.
- The old city is a maze of narrow lanes filled with small shrines, local shops, traditional houses, food stalls and everyday life. Exploring these lanes gives you a closer look at how the spiritual and cultural traditions of Kashi remain part of ordinary city life.
- Because many of these lanes are narrow and congested, parts of the itinerary are covered using auto rickshaws and short walks.
- Banarasi Food Walk
- Food is an essential part of the Banaras experience.
- The trip includes a
- Banarasi food walk
- where you can explore some of the city's popular local flavours. From traditional breakfast dishes and street snacks to Banarasi drinks and sweets, the food experience introduces you to a side of Varanasi that cannot be understood through sightseeing alone.
- The focus is on experiencing the local food culture and discovering flavours that are closely connected with everyday life in the city.
- Temple Hopping in Kashi
- Banaras is home to countless temples, each with its own history and significance.
- Along with Kashi Vishwanath, the itinerary takes you to other important spiritual sites such as Kaal Bhairav Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, Durga Temple and other notable places depending on the day's schedule and local conditions.
- Together, these visits offer a broader understanding of the spiritual landscape of Kashi.
- Banaras Winter Tour Itinerary
- Day 1: Varanasi Arrival, Banaras Heritage Walk & Ganga Aarti
- Arrive in Varanasi and settle into your accommodation before beginning your Banaras experience.
- The first day introduces you to the city's atmosphere through a combination of local exploration, heritage lanes and the evening Ganga Aarti.
- Later, enjoy a local food experience before returning to the stay.
- The first evening is designed to give you a glimpse of Banaras's spiritual and cultural character without trying to cover everything in one day.
- Day 2: Kashi Vishwanath Darshan, Temples & Banaras Culture
- After breakfast, continue exploring the spiritual side of Kashi.
- The day includes temple visits and time around the historic parts of Banaras. The highlight is Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Darshan followed by aarti, subject to temple timings and crowd conditions.
- The day also gives you opportunities to experience local markets, traditional neighbourhoods and the cultural atmosphere of the old city.
- Day 3: Subah-e-Banaras, Ganga Boat Ride & Kashi Heritage
- Start early with Subah-e-Banaras at Assi Ghat before heading for the morning sharing boat ride towards Namo Ghat.
- After experiencing the Ganga from the river, continue exploring the heritage and spiritual landmarks of Kashi.
- Later, enjoy local food and explore more of the old city before experiencing the Ganga again during the night boat ride.
- The contrast between the peaceful morning riverfront and illuminated evening ghats makes this one of the most memorable days of the
- Banaras winter trip
- .
- Day 4: Banaras Checkout & Departure
- After breakfast, complete the checkout process and prepare for your onward journey.
- Take back photographs, local flavours and memories from a city where every ghat, lane and temple reveals another part of its long history.
- Why Experience Banaras With a Group?
- Banaras can feel overwhelming when you first arrive. The city has crowded lanes, busy markets, constantly moving traffic and numerous temples and ghats spread across different areas.
- Travelling with a group makes the experience more comfortable and social. A trip leader helps coordinate the group's movement while travellers get to explore the city with people who share similar interests.
- The group format also makes experiences such as food walks, boat rides, temple visits and photography more enjoyable.
- Whether you are travelling solo, with friends or as a couple, this
- Banaras group tour
- gives you the opportunity to experience Kashi together while still having time to explore at your own pace.

- What to Pack for Your Banaras Winter Trip
- Packing for Banaras is relatively simple, but comfortable clothing and footwear can make a big difference.
- We recommend carrying:
- Light warm layers for early mornings and evenings
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Modest clothing for temple visits
- A small day backpack
- Sunglasses
- Personal medicines
- Power bank and charging accessories
- Reusable water bottle
- Some cash for small local purchases
- A scarf or light jacket for early morning boat rides
- If your selected batch falls during a particularly cold period, add an extra warm layer for the early morning and night experiences.
- Things to Know Before Your Banaras Trip
- Be Prepared for Walking
- Banaras has many narrow lanes where larger vehicles cannot enter. Some locations may require short walks, so comfortable footwear is essential.
- Expect Crowded Areas
- Popular ghats, temples and markets can become very busy, particularly during religious occasions and peak travel periods.
- Stay close to the group and follow your trip leader's instructions when moving through crowded areas.
- Respect Local Customs
- Banaras is an important spiritual destination. Dress respectfully at temples and religious sites and avoid disturbing rituals or ceremonies for photographs.
- Keep Cash Handy
- Digital payments such as UPI are widely used, but keeping some cash is useful for smaller shops, local snacks and other personal expenses.
- Photography Etiquette
- Banaras offers incredible opportunities for street and travel photography, but not every situation is suitable for photography. Always respect people, religious rituals and private moments.
- Boat Rides Depend on Local Conditions
- Boat operations and river access can be affected by weather, water conditions, crowd restrictions or local administration. The itinerary may be adjusted when required for safety and operational reasons.
- Best Time to Experience Banaras
- Banaras can be visited throughout the year, but the cooler months are particularly comfortable for travellers who want to spend long hours exploring the ghats, temples and old city.
- Winter is especially suitable for early morning activities such as Subah-e-Banaras and sunrise boat rides because the cooler temperatures make outdoor exploration more comfortable.
- The winter season can also bring festive energy to the city, with important occasions and celebrations taking place around the ghats.
- For travellers who specifically want to experience
- Dev Deepawali
- , a separate festival-focused trip is more suitable than this general winter package.
